Remember history class in school? Remember memorizing names of people of which you had never heard and dates, usually dates of wars, elections, or inventions. The lessons usually not excitingly presented. Real history includes us all not just the famous.
I remember a classic film called “It’s a Wonderful life”. In this film, at a time of crisis, the main character wonders if the world would not have been better if he’d never been born. An angel helps him see what the world would have been like without all the things he had done. By doing good things, sometimes seemingly small things lives were changed, even saved.
What we do effects our children, our friends, our communities, our societies. Our acts of kindness, encouragement have ripple effects…like a stone thrown into a pond. We are not insignificant because others say so. We all affect more than we know because the people we effect…affect others. In the biographies of “great” people we often see references of a “nobody” that encouraged or mentored the “great”. No body is a nobody. We make positive impacts in our world by choosing our attitudes and actions well. Sometimes we get a glimpse…but often we don’t know how much we have made others’ lives better.
Be sure that your goodness and kindness do not fall lifeless on the floor. You make history. What kind will it be?
HAVE A GREAT WEEK.
