Entertainment

We all liked to be entertained. In a a large city we are bombarded with opportunities to be entertained. Ads electronically and otherwise are all  around us. But in smaller or rural communities the opportunities for entertainment are less obvious. For this article I am not referring to watching videos online or gaming. I am referring to other opportunities.

Have you thought of…

Picking a theme or interest then using the internet to find things to do, places to see that match your interest? How about a BBQ road trip around your town, state, or country? If you are interested in Native American history art, how about trips to the tribal museums, pow wows, Native American gift shops, etc? Do you love certain types of music? There are concerts, festivals…not to mention online sources for videos of live concerts. Do you and your friends love a variety of ethnic food? Ethnic theme parties are great. With a little research even the most rural areas have a lot to offer. I was raised in rural Iowa and often complained about “nothing happening” But it really wasn’t true. There were county fairs, a state fair, music festivals,a sweetcorn festival, a watermelon festival, a strawberry festival, Crooked Creek Days, Steamboat Days, Old Threshers Reunion and more. With the internet it is easier to find events that appeal to you. Use a little creativity. Get family or friends involved. Explore. Have fun. Have a hand in creating your own entertainment experience.

Chuckles

  • My grand dad has the heart of a lion and a lifetime ban from the zoo.
  • Promises are a bit like babies, fun to make and hard to deliver.
  • Drugs are never the answer. Unless the clue is: “narcotics, five letters”.
  • If exercise is so good for you, why do athletes retire by age thirty-five?
  • A smart husband buys his wife fine china so she won’t trust him to wash it.

Have a Great week!
